Q State your name? A Dan F. White. Q Are you the same Dan F. White that testified before Mr. Short day before yesterday? A Yes. Q You did not tell us all about the Ford car deal, did you? A No, I didn't tell it all, because I figured it would be published in the papers, and if I can have the assurance that this will not all come out in the papers I will tell just how it was. You see, I have been warned not to come back to town, just since I was here the other day before Mr. short, and I went home and got permission to carry a gun, and I brought my gun with me today and left it at the garage and when I ge through here I will go and get it again. Q None of this evidence will be made public at this time, so just go ahead and state briefly all you know about the car you had stolen? Q Well, you head my statement to Mr. Short the other day about when the car was stolen and what steps I took to recover it. Well, after all that happened, I kept making trips up here to Tulsa to see the parties I had reported it to and who were trying to trace it, and it seemed that they would take no interest in me; all I could get out of them was "No, we have not heard anything." I finally got tired of it and went home and told my wife that I was going to catch them, I was going to pretend to play the game, that it takes a crook to catcha a crook, and I was going to catch them. I laid a plan to catch them, and I caught them. My wife says "What are you going to do?" I says "Turn auto thief." She says "You will get killed" and I said "No, I won't", so I came on up here and went to Mr. Guthrie. A personal friend of mine, Dr. Hauser, told me to go to Mr. Guthrie and say he sent me. I outlined my plan to Mr. Guthrie, and he said it would work if I was game enough to tackle it, and said they would do anything to
