Referring to the Mrs. Weber case, since being before your body I looked this matter up so as to be able to give you the exact facts.
My office only put in two days' time on this case and I enclose herewith the original ledger sheet showing same. She paid $5.00 on her account and owes a balance of $15.14. On January 31st we mailed her a statement for the amount due and also sent a man to see her with a statement, which we also enclose, but he did not find her.
One day of the time charged was for trying to get some information relative to a car her husband was supposed to have given to someone else. In addition to this she wanted her husband watched to see if he went to a certain place. We put in two half days on this and found that he used an automobile and that it would be a waste of time to shadow him under the circumstances. Mrs. Weber was then so informed in order that she not incur too much time and expense without getting the desired results, and this was at that time satisfactory.
I am writing you this letter of explanation so that the statement to the effect that our bill amounted to over $40.00 may be corrected and also to show that we did not try to put in any time for her when in our opinion we could not get her any results.
Hoping that the above explains the matter to your satisfaction, I am,
Yours very truly,

P.S. The above covers all work done for Mrs. Weber.
