Purpose	Research reported upon at the symposium focused on the following: types of FDD reservoirs, depositional settings, diagenetic history, reservoir characterization, and enhanced oil recovery. In describing the various FDD petroleum reservoirs in the southern Midcontinent, the researchers have increased our understanding of how the geologic history of a river/delta complex can affect reservoir heterogeneity and our ability to efficiently recover the hydrocarbons they contain. We hope that the symposium and these proceedings will bring such research to the attention of the geoscience and energy-research community, and will help foster exchange of information and increased research interest among industry, university, and government workers.
Notes	The symposium was held on March 23-24, 1993, at the Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education, The University of Oklahoma, Norman.
