FOR RELEASE: December 20, 2011 OKLAHOMA EMPLOYMENT REPORT - November 2011 Oklahoma unemployment rate unchanged in November In November 2011, Oklahoma’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 6.1 percent for the month. The national unemployment rate improved by 0.4 percentage points in November to reach 8.6 percent. Over the year, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined by 0.8 percentage points. For the November-to-November period, statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment dropped by 13,430 persons (-11.2 percent). Seasonally adjusted NONFARM EMPLOYMENT for the United States added 120,000 jobs (+0.1 percent) from October to November. When compared to November 2010, state NONFARM EMPLOYMENT rose by 43,000 jobs (+2.8 percent). • In November, seven of Oklahoma’s 11 statewide supersectors reported job gains. The largest of these gains occurred in Trade, Transportation & Utilities, where a 1,300-job addition was driven primarily by growth in Retail Trade. • Professional & Business Services posted a loss of 2,000 jobs, the month’s largest by any supersector. • Nine statewide supersectors expanded during the November-to-November period, led by Manufacturing (+10,400 jobs). • The only supersectors to record over-the-year losses in November were Information and Other Services.
