OKLAHOMAMARKET REPORT OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FOOD, & FORESTRY For 24-hour statewide market information dial 1-405-621-5533, and press the report number below: 2800 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105 August 21, 2012 Vol. 60, No. 32 Mary Fallin, Governor Jim Reese, Commissioner Jamey Allen, Director Market Development Services This report along with archived reports, current market prices, and other available state reports are accessible online at: http://www.ag.ok.gov/mktdev-newshome.htm #2 Grain #8 Apache Livestock #3 Livestock Summary #9 McAlester Livestock #4 Fed Cattle #10 OKC Livestock #5 Hogs and Sheep #11 El Reno Livestock #6 Hay Report #12 Video/Direct Livestock #13 Tulsa Livestock . About half the state received at least one inch of rain this past week. Overall the rain was beneficial, but provided no significant improvements to conditions. In most areas there was no run-off to improve water availability for livestock, and hay supplies from the spring were already being used to supplement the lack of pasture. Producers continued culling herds and making difficult decisions in the face of the ongoing drought. Temperatures were significantly cooler than the previous week, with highs averaging from the upper 80s to the low 90s. Ninety-seven percent of topsoil was rated short to very short and subsoil moisture conditions worsened over the past week to 98 percent rated short to very short... --USDA.
