CENTER FOR LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP OKLAHOMA’S FEDERALLY DESIGNATED UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (UCEDD) D ECEMBER 2 0 1 0 Highlights of Our 2010 Outcomes This time of year we take a look back at some of the accomplishments of the Center for Learning and Leadership and our collaborating partners. Our faculty and staff would like to thank all of our partners for their continued support. Without all of you, our accomplishments – including those listed below – would not have been possible. Preservice and Continuing Education The Oklahoma UCEDD and the Oklahoma LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) program collaborated to provide long-term interdisciplinary leadership training to 11 advanced graduate students and 1 family member who represented the parent-family issues. The Oklahoma UCEDD and Oklahoma LEND collaborated to provide training to 14 Pediatric Residents who participated as medium-term trainees. The Oklahoma UCEDD and Oklahoma LEND collaborated with the Oklahoma State Department of Education to provide 350 teachers and other professionals with continuing education training in the areas of autism, multiple disabilities and deaf/blindness, and traumatic brain injury. Community Services The Oklahoma UCEDD, in collaboration with our university and community partners, provided training to over 10,000 individuals with disabilities, family members, service providers, students, advocates, and others. We provided over 1,900 hours of technical assistance to disability agencies, organizations, legislators, policy-makers, students, professionals, self-advocates, and families to promote systems change in services for individuals with disabilities and their families. The Oklahoma UCEDD, in partnership with Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Developmental Disabilities Services Division, provided family support services through the Oklahoma Family Support 360° Center to over 200 families whose children have developmental disabilities. We collaborated with our partners to co-sponsor three statewide conferences, including the Couple’s Conference with the Down syndrome associations in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the Joining Forces conference with the Oklahoma Family Network and others, and the Oklahoma Governor’s Conference on Developmental Disabilities with the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Services Division, the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council, and others. The Oklahoma UCEDD and Oklahoma LEND Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) developed a “Partnership Values” document to articulate the elements of good partnerships from the perspectives of diverse community partners.
