Data Relating to September 1, 2012 Issued September 28, 2012 2012 Oklahoma Winter Wheat Production Up 120 Percent from Last Year OKLAHOMA: Final 2012 winter wheat production is estimated at 154.8 million bushels, up 120 percent from 2011, according to the Oklahoma Field Office of USDA-NASS. An average yield of 36.0 bushels per acre was harvested from 4.3 million acres. Final oat production is estimated at 450,000 bushels, up 125 percent from 2011. Final rye production totaled 1.26 million bushels, 53 percent above last year. UNITED STATES: Final production of winter wheat for 2012 is estimated at 1.65 billion bushels, up 10 percent from 2011. Harvested area totaled 34.8 million acres, up 8 percent from the previous year. Yield averaged 47.2 bushels per acre, up 1.0 bushels from last year. Oat production is estimated at 64.0 million bushels, up 19 percent from 2011. Yield is estimated at 61.3 bushels per acre, up 4.2 bushels from the previous year. Barley production, at 220 million bushels, was up 41 percent from last year. Rye production for 2012 is estimated at 6.94 million bushels.
