Wilbert Hundl, Jr. State Director NOVEMBER 2012 ANNUAL HAY REVIEW Hay: Acreage, Yield, and Production, Oklahoma and United States 2007-2012 ACREAGE, YIELD AND PRODUCTION O klahoma’s all hay production for 2012 is forecast at 4.01 million tons, up 72 percent from last year. Alfalfa production, at 500,000 tons, is up 92 percent from 2011. Production of all other hay is forecast at 3.51 million tons, and is up 70 percent from last year. United States 2012 alfalfa production is forecast at 55.6 million tons, down 15 percent from last year. Production of other hay is forecast at 66.4 million tons, up one percent from last year. All hay production is forecast at 122 million tons, down seven percent from a year ago. Source: USDA-NASS January Annual Crop summary and Monthly Crop Production report.
