The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board is the nation's first energy checkoff
program. Created by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1993, the OERB is funded
voluntarily by Oklahoma oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners
through a one-tenth of I percent assessment on the sale of oil and natural
gas. The OERB's mission is to restore orphaned and abandoned well sites and
to educate Oklahomans about the vitality, contributions and environmental
responsibility of the Oklahoma petroleum industry.

Curricula - To date, more than 12,000 teachers have been trained in OERB's
energy education curricula.
Little Bits - Kindergarten through second grade energy curriculum.
Fossils to Fuel and Fossils to Fule 2 - Elementary school energy curriculum.
Petro Active - Middle school energy curriculum.
Core Energy - High school energy curriculum with four options: Science,
Social Studies, Math and Language Arts.

Museum Partnerships -
Partnerships with seven museums across the state to enhance energy
education curricula and provide free admission and transportation to OERB
Well Site Safety -
The OERB provides a safety video and more than 30,000 safety folders to
schools each year that educate students about the dangers of playing around
wellsites and oilfield equipment. An annual contest and event is also hosted
at the State Capitol to honor students, parents and teachers.
Petro Pros -
Oklahoma oil and natural gas professionals who volunteer time to visit
classrooms and show students the science and business side of the industry.
Volunteers reach more than 10,000 students annually through Petro Pros.
OERB Petroleum Scholar Program -
Scholarship program through which the OERB distributes up to $500,000
each year to Oklahoma college students majoring in industry-related fields.
Since 2006, nearlly $2 million has been awarded to students at OU,
OSU and Tulsa University.
PetroTech Program -
Provides training and certification for Oklahomans interested in Geo
Tech, Land Tech and Engineering Tech positions within the oil and natural
gas industry. The program is offered at Francis Turtle Technology Center in
Oldahoma City and Tulsa Technology Center.
