Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System Annual Report to Members June 30,2011 Letter From the President of the Board of Trustees The Honorable Mary Fallin Governor of Oklahoma Dear Governor Fallin: The Board of Trustees is proud to present the Sixty Fourth Annual Report of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System. This report is furnished in accordance with 47 O.S. 1991, Section 2-303.1, as amended. The Board's consulting actuary, Buck Consultants, has completed the annual actuarial report, and the Board's independent accountant, Finley & Cook PLLC, has completed the annual audit and issued an unqualified opinion. Both reports are available for review at the retirement system office and online. The last fiscal year was good to our fund. We had an investment return of 21.8%. The Board of Directors have made minor changes to our Asset Allocation to be more diversified in our investments. The Board continues to be very prudent in their decisions determining the actions of the System. Should you have any questions concerning the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System or this report, please contact the Executive Director or any of the members of the Board of Trustees. Mission Statement The OLERS mission is to administer retirement/survivor retirement and medical benefits for members of the law enforcement profession of the state of Oklahoma and their families under title 47 of the Oklahoma Statutes. This program provides retirement income after active employment and in the event of disability or death. Purpose | Fiscal Year 2011 was a great year for the System. As the System accounts for its investments at market value, increases and declines in the prices of stocks and bonds have a direct effect and impact on the operating results of the System. The System's net yield on its average assets was approximately 21.8%, while the total assets increased by approximately $110.6 million for the fiscal year 2011. |
