Volume 33 Number 1 Issued January 17, 2013 2012 Annual Row Crop Summary OKLAHOMA: Production of corn for grain is set at 32.5 million bushels, up 90 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 110 bushels per acre from 295,000 harvested acres. Production of corn for silage is set at 698,000 tons, up 95 percent from last year. Production of grain sorghum is set at 4.1 million bushels, up 141 percent from a year earlier. Yield averaged 27.0 bushels per acre from 150,000 harvested acres. Production of sorghum for silage is set at 96,000 tons, up 60 percent from last year. Cotton production is forecast at 140,000 bales, up 61 percent from last year. Yield averaged 480 pounds per acre from 140,000 harvested acres. Soybean production is set at 3.9 million bushels, up 13 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 15.0 bushels per acre from 260,000 harvested acres. Peanut production is set at 83.6 million pounds, up 53 percent from last year. Yield averaged 3,800 pounds from 22,000 harvested acres. Canola production for 2012 is set at 161.0 million pounds, up 89 percent from the previous year. Yield averaged 1,400 pounds per acre from 115,000 harvested acres. All sunflower production is set at 4.8 million pounds, down 9 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 1,086 pounds per acre from 4,400 harvested acres. Production of all hay is set at 4.4 million tons, up 88 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 1.37 tons per acre from 3.19 million harvested acres. The yield for alfalfa hay is set at 2.50 tons per acre. Production of all other hay is set at 3.9 million tons. Hay stocks on farms totaled 2.90 million tons on December 1, 2012, up 480 percent from May’s 0.50 million tons.UNITED STATES: Production of all wheat is placed at 2.27 billion bushels, up 13 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 46.3 bushels per acre. Corn production is estimated at 10.8 billion bushels, down 13 percent from last year. Yield averaged 123.4 bushels per acre, down 23.8 bushels from last year. Production of grain sorghum is estimated at 246.9 million bushels, up 15 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 49.8 bushels per acre from 4.96 million harvested acres. All cotton production is estimated at 17.0 million bales, up 9 percent from last year. Yield averaged 866 pounds per acre, up 76 pounds from 2011. Peanut production is estimated at 6.74 billion pounds, up 84 percent from last year’s crop. Yield averaged 4,192 pounds per acre from 1.61 million harvested acres. This is a record high yield. Soybean production is estimated at 3.01 billion bushels, down 3 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 39.6 bushels per acre from 76.1 million harvested acres. Canola production for 2012 is estimated at 2.45 billion pounds, up 59 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 1,416 pounds per acre. All sunflower production is estimated at 2.79 billion pounds, up 37 percent from 2011 with an average yield of 1,513 per acre. Production of all hay is estimated at 120 million tons, down 9 percent from 2011. Alfalfa production is estimated at 52.0 million tons, down 20 percent from last year and average yield is 3.01 tons per acre. Production of other hay is estimated at 67.8 million tons, up 3 percent from last year and average yield is 1.74 tons per acre.
