Highway 66, Kellyville, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please come help Susan celebrate her long Extension career that began in August 1991. Congratulations to: Ginny McCarthick, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development, Johnston County, on the birth of her grandson. Logan Robert was born Jan. 7, weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Proud parents are Josh and Nicole McCarthick of Fairmont, Minn. Congratulations to: Brian Pugh, Extension Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth Development, and CED, Haskell County, and his wife, Rachel, on the birth of their son. Kade Christopher was born Jan. 10, weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 22 inches long. AWARDS Nowlin Receives Highest Extension Honor: David Nowlin, CED, Caddo County, was recognized recently for his outstanding contributions and dedication to the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service when he was named the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Educator Award. This is the most prestigious title attainable by a county educator, district program specialist, or area specialist. David joined the Extension family in 1993. Some of his career highlights include organizing more than 200 cutting-edge educational meetings for county cattle producers; assisting more than 600 producers with no-till cropping issues since 1999; conducting 230 risk management meetings; working with the local Sirloin Club to raise more than $650,000 in support of youth livestock projects; restarting the Caddo County Cattlemen’s Association; and finding ways to help peanut producers reduce fungicide application costs, to name a few. His professional organizations include the Oklahoma Association of Extension Agricultural Agents, the National Association of County Agricultural Agents, and the American Society of Agronomy. He is a past president of the Anadarko Rotary Club, active in the First United Methodist Church, and plays an instrumental role in the organization of the Caddo County Junior Livestock Show and the Fall Fair Livestock Show. Congratulations David! Vogel Honored with Extension Award: Congratulations to Jason Vogel, Assistant Professor, Stormwater Specialist, and Riata Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellow, for being named the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty and Field Staff Award. He developed the Stormwater Management Program to address the need for educational assistance to communities and state agencies regarding stormwater rules. The program also conducts research to support Extension activities in Oklahoma. He recently was awarded a 2012 OSU Provost’s Planning Grant to lead a team and develop the “Epicenter for Environmental and Economically Sustainable Development.” Congratulations Jason! OCES Faculty and Field Staff Group Honored: The School Nutrition Standards Training Team, led by Deana Hildebrand, is comprised of 26 FCS Educators from across the state who partnered with the State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Services. Resources were developed to educate school nutrition personnel and the public on updated regulations.
