EQUIPMENT OPERATORS LET IT ALL HANG OUT
by Jodie Paden
It was May 16, 1990. A crowd of
approximately 300 had gathered from
across the state at the Oklahoma
State Fairgrounds. Tension ran
high. The tornado that had ripped
through Stillwater the evening
before seemed an ominous
forewarning of the explosion that
was about to occur. Then, it

Savoring the thrill of victory are (left to right) State
Champion Equipment Operators Vernon Martin, Backhoe; J.D.
Barton, Dump Truck and David Cross, Motor Grader.
