F-46-D-24 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF PUBLIC FISHING ACCESS AREAS OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE CONSERVATION JANUARY 1, 2010 through DECEMBER 31, 2010 , FINAL PERFORMANCE REPORT State: Oklahoma Grant Number: F-46-D-24 Grant Program: Sport Fish Restoration Grant Title: Operation and Maintenance of Public Fishing Access Areas Report Period: January 1, 2010 - December 31, 2010 Project 1: Area and Facility Maintenance Objective: Support 540,000 angler-hours annually of sportfishing through providing clean, maintained, minimally developed public fishing lakes and their associated access areas. Locations and Acres: 1. American Horse Lake, Blaine Co., 10 miles west of Geary. (See 5, T13N RI2W) (440 ac., 340 ac. land, 100 ac. water) Mowed area and removed trash. Bladed roads. 2. Burtschi Lake, including residences and headquarters buildings, Grady County, 10 miles southeast of Chickasha. (Sec 29 & 30, T6N R8W) (790 ac., 590 ac. land, 200 ac. water) Mowed area and removed trash. Removed approximately 1,000 yards of shoreline timber to improve fishing access. 3. Chambers Lake, Beaver Co., 18 miles west of Laverne. (See 13 & 24, T3N R26E) (185.4 ac., 105.4 ac.land, 80 ac. water) Repaired hole in dam/spillway. 4. Dahlgren Lake, Cleveland Co., 9 miles southeast of Noble. (See 21 & 28, T7N RIE) (60 ac. water on Lexington WMA) No activity in 2010. 5. Elmer Lake, Kingfisher Co., 4 miles northwest of Kingfisher. (See 18, T16 N R7W) (242.5 ac., 182.5 ac. land, 60 ac. water) Trash removal, mowing, Drained lake following fish kill, Started renovation project. 6. Etling Lake, Cimarron Co., 36 miles northwest of Boise City. (See 5 & 6, T4N R2E) (348.9 ac., 189.9 ac. land, 159 ac. water) No activities for 2010. Lake is partially dry. 7. Fugate Lake, Atoka Co., 6 miles east of Stringtown. (See 15, Tl S R13E) (No water currently, located on Stringtown WMA) Lake was dry in 2010 8. Hall Lake, Harmon Co., 13 miles north of Hollis (Sec 10, T4N R26W) (170 ac., 120 ac. land, 50 ac. water) Mowed area and removed trash. Dressed west access road. 9. Jap Beaver Lake, Jefferson Co., 4 miles northwest of Waurika. (See 29, T4S R8W) (209.8 ac., 147.8 ac. land, 62 ac. water) Mowed area and removed trash. 10. Nanih Waiya Lake, Pushmataha Co., 2 miles northwest of Tuskahoma. (See 22, T2N RI9E) (240.5 ac., 109.5 ac.land, 131 ac. water) Arranged with County Commissioner to add gravel to access road. Mowed area and removed trash. 11. Ozzie Cobb Lake, Pushmataha Co., 6 miles northeast of Rattan. (See 2, T4S RI8E) (287.3 ac., 171.3 ac. land, 116 ac. water) Mowed area and removed trash. 12. Raymond Gary Lake, Choctaw Co., 1 mile east ofFt. Towson. (See 31, T6S R20E) (354.5 ac., 91.5 ac. land, 263 ac. water) No activity. State Parks performs primary maintenance. 13. Schooler Lake, Choctaw Co., 7 miles north of Sawyer. (Sec 24 T5S RI8E)(138 ac., 103 ac.land, 35 ac. water) Mowed area and removed trash. Inspected spillway for possible maintenance/repair issues. 14. Vanderwork Lake, Washita Co., 8 miles north of Gotebo. (See 18, T8N R15W and See 13, T8N RI6W) (568.4 ac., 433.9 ac.land, 135 ac. water) Coordinated with County Commissioner to replace bridge on north end. Mowed area and removed trash. Bladed roads. Assisted SW Region staff with draw down for boat ramp repair. 15. Vincent Lake, Ellis Co., 13 miles southwest of Arnett. (See 1 & 12, T18N R26W) (160 ac. water on Ellis County WMA) Renovation completed, three jetties constructed and added 100+ tons of riprap with filter blanket placed to prevent erosion, new boat ramp installed. 16. Watonga Lake, Blaine Co., 7 miles north of Watonga. (See 18, T17N Rl1 W) (221.3 ac., 166.3 ac. land, 55 ac. water) Enlarged old fishing jetty and added 100+ tons of riprap plus filter blanket to prevent erosion. 17. Blue River Public Fishing & Hunting Area, 9 miles northeast of Tishomingo, Oklahoma (3,372 acres owned, 6.25 mi. stream). No activity in 2010.
