This publication is a compilation of related re-ports issued by USDA’s Na-tional Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in an effort to provide a complete source of statistics relevant to the pork industry. Though many of the statistics in this publication can be accessed through our website on a monthly basis (www.nass.usda.gov/ Publications), this Oklahoma Field Office summary will be issued each quarter following the release of the USDA-NASS Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report. Wilbert Hundl, Jr. State Director Oklahoma Field Office USDA-NASS OKLAHOMA FIELD OFFICE Oklahoma’s December 2012 - February 2013 pig crop at 1.94 million head was up 5 per-cent from a year ago. Sows farrowed, at 190,000, were up 3 percent from the number farrowed during the previous quarter. Oklahoma’s Hog Inventory estimated at 2.32 million head, was down slightly December 1 and down 1 percent from a year ago. 1 Year relates to when quarter ends. 2 Number of pigs born during the period that were still on hand or had been sold. 3 Intentions for March-May and June-August. 4 December preceding year. * Revised.
