1 2013-2014 Controlled Hunts e-Book • WELCOME To manage game animals, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is offering hunters the opportunity to apply for controlled hunt permits. Controlled hunts are held in situations where unrestricted hunting would pose safety concerns or where overharvest might occur. Controlled hunt permits are awarded in random drawings. Some controlled hunt permits are highly sought after, with many more applicants than available permits. If selected, hunters will be able to hunt on lands managed by the Department and cooperating state, federal and privately owned areas. We wish you good luck and good hunting. No Hunter Education? Try an Apprentice-Designated License Many hunting licenses and permits can be sold with an apprentice designation that allows people ages 8 to 30 to hunt without hunter education certification under certain conditions. For complete details, click here. • Categories Category 1: Elk Hunts Category 2: Antelope Hunts Category 3: Deer Hunts Category 4: Deer Hunts for Motor Vehicle or Non-Ambulatory Permittees Category 5: Youth Deer Hunts Category 6: Spring 2014 Turkey Hunts Category 7: Youth Spring 2014 Turkey Hunts • Who can apply ?
