Southern Plains TTAP Summer Update file:///Y|/Newsletters/Transportation%20news%20update/7-26-2013.htm[7/31/2013 9:30:05 AM] Southern Plains TTAP Tribal Technical Assistance Program Oklahoma State University Transportation News Update Serving Tribes in Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma July 26, 2013 Developing Tribal Transportation Safety Plans Webinar Announcement August 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm CST Instructor: Adam Larsen, FHWA Webinar Description: Tribal Transportation Safety Plans are a critical first step for developing a strategic approach to transportation safety risks. This training will be an overview of a recommended process for developing TTSP. MAP-21 sets aside 2% of the Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) as TTP Safety Funds (TTPSF) to be made available to tribes on a competitive basis. The funds will be distributed to tribes to develop strategic plans and implement multi-disciplinary strategies that are most likely to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes that are occurring in Indian Country. The top priority during the first cycle of funding will be funding the development of Tribal Transportation Safety Plans. The training will also cover key elements for Tribes to consider when applying for TTPSF dollars to develop a Tribal Transportation Safety Plan. A Tribal Transportation Safety Plan: is a living document is data driven identifies transportation safety issues prioritizes strategies to address the top issues is coordinated with the State Strategic Highway Safety Plan and any local government safety plans and, promotes a comprehensive, strategic approach to addressing safety needs with input from a variety of stakeholders Registration for this event is required.
