This year’s OTI saw record numbers as our registration surpassed 500 attendees! These numbers reflect the importance of this annual institute. Thanks to all who attended team planning sessions and the various workshops. Your commitment to students in Oklahoma is extraordinary. The Transition Council is already back at work, reviewing the institute and comments made in order to continue its success! People left Jack McMahan’s and Cameron Clapp’s keynotes inspired. Several attendees commented, “They were inspiring and excited to see the changes mentioned.” The Council appreciates the feedback written on evaluations from breakout and keynote sessions. Responses to “what worked” at this year’s OTI were: “The variety of realistic information; ability to meet & coordinate with other people, agencies.” “I thought the team meeting was great. I thought it created a way to use the info in a practical way.” Things that people mentioned using when they returned to school were: “Research and Learn more! I have a lot of work to do. (OTI) gave good information and thought-provoking questions. I’m motivated to making my program better as well as network in the surrounding areas.” “Teach colleagues! Be a resource to all special education teachers in my district. I plan on sharing with my students, parents, my teachers, and administrators.” “Transition practices implemented in my class - student-led IEPs, bell ringers…” The Council appreciates the time and energy that you each put into developing your team’s plan. The Council encourages teams to contact any of the members should you need support in achieving your team goals. There is a list of all council members provided for you on the last page of every newsletter. Emails are linked to each person. Don’t hesitate to ask for help as we all work together to improve transition in Oklahoma. “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!” -Audrey Hepburn
