Ifnot, now is the time. Open enrollment for Medicare Part D is earlier this year - October 15th through December 7th • COEDD Area Agency on Aging has been hosting Medicare Part D Check-Up and Enrollment Fairs in our service area to educate Medicare beneficiaries and/or family members about the 2012 prescription drug coverage options, and to help compare and enroll participants in a plan. These fairs are intended for seniors who need to sign up for Part D for the first time, as well as for those who need to review their current plan to be sure it is the most beneficial one for them. Each year Medicare plans change their premiums and what they cover. The remaining Enrollment Fairs are scheduled as follows: Tuesday, November 29 lO:30am to 4pm Okemah Library Friday, December 2 9:30am to 3pm Holdenville Library These events are free and open to the public, but due to the volume of people needing assistance, appointments are required. To schedule your appointment or for more information, contact Kristi Tischer with COEDD Area Agency on Aging at 405-273-6410 Ext. 128 or 1-800-375-8255 Ext. 128. In addition to these enrollment fairs, COEDD offers Medicare Part D assistance throughout the Open Enrollment Period in our office or by phone. Call to make an individual appointment before December 7. Need Relief on Your Prescription Drug Costs? You May Qualify for Medicare "Extra Help"! Medicare beneficiaries with limited income and resources may qualify for "Extra Help" to pay for Medicare Part D prescription drug costs. If you qualify, it can help reduce your drug costs, including monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and prescription copayments. Many people qualify and don't even know it. To qualify for Extra Help, income must be less than $16,335 a year (or $22,065 for married couples). Your resources must also be limited to $12,640 (or $25,260 for married couples). Your home, the land it stands on, your cars" burial plots, or personal possessions do not count toward the resource limit. COEDD Area Agency on Aging can help you apply for this benefit. It's easy and free to apply and can be completed over the phone with a COEDD staff person.
