The Vet Gazette January -March 2010 Volume 13 Issue 1 January thru March is a great time to ponder with the cold snowy days we have been having. We have had more than usual this year. - - - - So-why are +h er-e-fj-rrtntto-n-dev-i-ce-s-un-d-e-r-atrp-Iun-e-s-e-ats-rn-s-to-fe--pa--adrn-chtlt-e-s-?.- Why do fat chance and slim Chance mean the same thing? How does the guy who drives the snow plow get to work in the mornings? If 7-11 is open 24 hours a day ( continued on next page) Things to Ponder 'Birthdays' 'Birthdays' 'Birthdays . January February March William Marshall Clifton Fry James Williams Armond Williamson Jerry Metheny Ermol Williams George Brown Dennis Goldie John Mitchell Gerry Caughman Kirk Halsey Eugene McKibbin Maynard Palmer Charles Maylen John Pipkin Willie White Jack Landers Joseph Cale David Storey Thomas Navarro Mark Gimpel James Kaler Paul Kepley Darrell Brown Alvie Hawkins Donald McCombs Espey Myers Richard Boude Veterans, Employees, and Volunteer of the month January February March Veteran: David Storey Employee: Aron Norton Veteran: Veteran: John Pipkin Employee: Rose Lloyd Jerry Metheny Employee: Charlene Hickman Volunteer: Billy Joe Standifer WHATS BEEN HAPPENING The New Year 2010 has comeand it has definitely started out unusual. Some of the center events had to be changed because of weather conditions. The weather did not let up in February and the groundhog saw his shadow. How do you not see your shadow with all the bright lights shining on you? With that comes six more weeks of winter. It seemed to snow on every holiday since Christmas Eve, with Spring beginning on March 20th and it snowed on March 21st. This was still not a record breaking year for snowfall. The memorial ser-vice will be held the 16th of April. With Spring in full bloom and warmer weather be on the look out for some outside Activities to enjoy before it gets too Hot. Things to Ponder 7 days a week, 365 days a year why are there locks on the doors? Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? Why does your nose run and feet smell? Why do you press harder on a remote control when you know the battery is weak? Why do we say heads up when we actually duck? Last but not least, let's remember that every day can shine when we let our positive attitude show through. CONSTRUCTION NEWS The work goes on and the 3rd floor was poured at the end of December. The projected completion date has been set for July but with delays due to weather conditions, it may be a later date. They are working on fireproofing, putting up lintels, studs and roof. In March the building is really taking shape. The brick has started going up and the roof is on. The sheet rock should begin going up the first week of April.
