Personnel Changes at Blue Thumb
Long-time Blue Thumb quality assurance officer
Jean Lemmon is becoming a technical writer for the
Oklahoma Conservation Commission Water Quality
Division. This means she is leaving her position
with Blue Thumb. An employee since 1997, Jean
has been totally committed to Blue Thumb volunteers and the streams and rivers they monitor.
Blue Thumb is welcoming Kevin Gustavson into
the core Blue Thumb Program as our technical outreach coordinator. Much of the work that has been
Jean's responsibility will now be passed on to Kevin.
Kevin has been with Water Quality for over five
years, so he is very familiar with Blue Thumb.
Blue Thumb staff appreciates your patience as
we learn to live with these changes, and as we
strive to remain effective at helping you monitor your
streams and educate the public about nonpoint
Left: Jean Lemmon is now a technical writer with
the Water Quality Division of the Oklahoma Conservation Commission. Right: OCC staff member Kevin Gustavson will be playing a larger role
in the Blue Thumb program.
Kevin can be contacted at: 918-801-2150
No Summer QA Sessions
This summer, actual quality assurance sessions did
not take place. The reasons for this included:
♦ Changes to staff
♦ So many streams dry
♦ Summer travel/field work challenges
If indeed you need reagents or Dl water, contact Cheryl
or Kim and we will see that somehow we get you what
you need. QA sessions will begin in the fall, in some cases with guest speakers being a part of the activities. So
please enjoy the break you got from QA and be ready to
get down to business with bugpicking and QA sessions
Next Blue Thumb Training Session
Look to Northeast Oklahoma and all the way to Pryor
for the next Blue Thumb training event for new volunteers. See below for all the information. If you know of
anyone who is interested in attending a Blue Thumb training, please pass this information on to them.
