Total cattle and calves on feed for slaughter in the U.S. as of May 1 totaled 11.1 million, 1 percent below May 1, 2011. Placements during April totaled 1.52 million, down 15 percent from last year. Marketings during April totaled 1.82 million. In Oklahoma the inventory of cattle on feed was down 8 percent from the previous month and 17 percent fewer than May 1, 2011. Placements were down 38 percent from the same month last year.
