How to Search

Homepage Collections Searching

From the homepage, enter your search term directly in the search bar under the collection's image to do a quick search of any of the collections. See the "Search All" toward the top of the homepage, enter a term or topic to get results from all the digital collections. If you click on a collection image on the home page, it will take you to the collections page where you can Browse Collection from the top menu.

Once you search or Browse Collection, you will see tabs on the left side of the page that will take you to subjects, locations, agencies, formats and other categories within that collection.

Advanced Search

Under the collections pages, you will notice an "Advanced Search" option next to the search bar. Here you can search by key word, name, title, author, and date. Narrow down your search results by choosing whether your search terms should include all the words, any of the words, exact phrase or none of the words. Click to add another field to narrow your search by cross-referencing multiple terms. You also have the option to narrow your search by date.

EBSCO & Britannica Reference and Information

To search Britannica or EBSCO, click Research & Discovery and then Main page on the top menu. It will take you to the Reseach & Discovery search interface page. There you will find several categories for research. If you click on the Preschool-12th image or student search link, it will take you to EBSCOhost searches that are specifically designed for those age groups. Also at the bottom of the student tabs, see links to Explora and Britannica School for that age group.

The other links and categories on the main Research & Discovery page focus around EBSCO references. Each link will take you to a search interface or a specialized search category. Peruse the topics and find what interests you. You will also find links for Britannica under the Preschool-12th section.

If you click on the EBSCO or Britannica logos at the top of the Digital Prairie home page, you will be taken to the "About" section at the bottom of the page. There you will find a brief description of these services and a link to the Research & Discovery page.

EBSCO & Britannica can be accessed through your local library or school library. Ask your local librarian for information. If you do not have an account yet and want to set up an account for your library or school, see How to Access.
