How to Search

See also EBSCO & Britannica Tutorials.

Homepage Collections Searching

From the homepage, enter your search term directly in the search bar under the collection's image to do a quick search of any of the collections. See the "Search All" toward the top of the homepage, enter a term or topic to get results from all the digital collections. If you click on a collection image on the home page, it will take you to the collections page where you can Browse Collection from the top menu.

Once you search or Browse Collection, you will see tabs on the left side of the page that will take you to subjects, locations, agencies, formats and other categories within that collection.

Advanced Search

Under the collections pages, you will notice an "Advanced Search" option next to the search bar. Here you can search by key word, name, title, author, and date. Narrow down your search results by choosing whether your search terms should include all the words, any of the words, exact phrase or none of the words. Click to add another field to narrow your search by cross-referencing multiple terms. You also have the option to narrow your search by date.

EBSCO & Britannica Databases

EBSCO & Britannica can be accessed through your local library or school library. Ask your local librarian for information. If you do not have an account yet and want to set up an account for your library or school, see How to Access.

Enter a term and you will be directed to their search results. The EBSCO searchbar takes you to the EBSCOhost search results but if you click on "See all EBSCO search options" you will have numerous EBSCO search options to choose from including Explora, elementary & middle school search, Consumer Health and more. The Britannica search includes elementary and middle school results.

From the top drop down menu, click on EBSCO or Britannica School and then Search Now to go directly to their search pages or click How to Access to see how you would gain access.
