How to Search

Homepage Collections Searching

From the homepage, you can do a quick search under any of the collections' categories by entering your search term directly in the search bar under the image for that collection. This will take you to the collection you choose and pull results according to your search term. See the "Search All" at the top of the collections, enter a search term and search all ODL's digital collections at once. If you click on a collection image on the home page, it will take you to the collections page where you can browse all the entries under that collection or carry out an Advanced Search. In the menu at the top of the page, you can select the Collections tab, to go directly to the collection page or Browse All the items in all the collections.

Advanced Search

When you are in the collections pages or search results pages, you will notice an "Advanced Search" tab at the top of the page. Here you can search by key word in the collection name, title, author, and date. Narrow down your search results by choosing whether your search terms should include all the words, any of the words, exact phrase or none of the words. Click to add another field to narrow your search by cross-referencing multiple terms. In addition, you can narrow your search to get results that fall within specified dates.

Once you search any of the collections, you will see tabs on the left side of the page that give you subjects, locations, agencies, etc. to view results within these categories.
