1 To: Documents Libraries Subject: INCOG Insight - April 2017 April 2016 Unique Partnership to Facilitate Completion of Long-Planned Gilcrease Expressway An innovative partnership involving the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, the City of Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and INCOG will complete a key portion of the long-planned Gilcrease Expressway plan. Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin along with state and local officials announced a framework for the financing plan and lauded the spirit of collaboration that officials have called a unique approach to funding the construction as a four-lane roadway from I-44 on the south to US-412 and Edison Street on the north. During the press event on March 10, 2017 at Chandler Park, Tulsa County Commissioner Karen Keith commented, “This is an historic partnership and we would not be here without this 'out of the box' formula created by Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. I also extend gratitude to INCOG staff for their never-say-die attitude that helped us all work together and move forward.” The original Tulsa region expressway master plan called for the construction of the Gilcrease Expressway more than 50 years ago.
