Back to School Resources
"Backpack ConnecƟon" Resources for Teachers and Families The Technical Assistance Center on Social EmoƟonal IntervenƟon for Young Children (TACSEI) offers a series of Backpack ConnecƟon handouts on their website. This series provides a way for teachers and families to work together to help young children develop social emoƟonal skills and reduce challenging behavior. Teachers can send a handout home in a student’s backpack when a new strategy or skill is introduced in the classroom. Each handout provides informaƟon to help parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home. Topics include understanding different emoƟons, developing social skills, and managing rouƟnes and schedules. The series is available at www.challengingbehavior.org/do/resources/backpack.html.
